Google has announced the availability of a Places application for iOS devices today. Much like the new Places functionality built into Google Maps for Android, this app comes with support for Hotpot -- Google's social place recommendation feature.Places lets you rate businesses, and it makes it very easy to do so while you're there -- once you hit 'Rate now' in the app, it will try to guess your location and let you post a review straight from your phone. However, while saying what you think about places is nice, your ratings will, in time, help the app give you personalized recommendations based on your tastes. So whenever you'll search for a place nearby, the results that show up will be tailored to you. And if you choose to go to Google.com/Hotpot on your computer and add some friends, their ratings and reviews will also start to influence the recommendations that Places will show you.
Google Places is now available for all iOS devices in English only. Localization in many new languages is expected soon.
