Wheretheladies.at hits the App Store, leverages geolocation to help you pick up girls

Wheretheladies.at, the finest low-hanging juicy fruit of geolocation, is now available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Using check-in data from Foursquare, the app provides a large, red easy-to-see-even-when-inebriated compass needle that points to wherever the ladies are at.

At the moment, the service only works in San Francisco, which will no doubt exacerbate a gaping flaw in the system: Foursquare check-ins do not contain the user's sexuality. Not that there's anything wrong with being pointed in the direction of a homosexuals, but I suspect that this app is probably targeted at men hoping to score. Having said that, I suppose women could also use the app, if they were so inclined.

The reviews on the App Store are hilarious, too. They're not quite up there with the Three Wolf Moon t-shirt on Amazon, but they're getting there. My favorite is this gem, by Jessica Z:
One evening I had decided to go out with some of my best lady friends to the Mission. About 10 minutes after arriving at 500 Club at least 15 handsome, intelligent, well dressed hipsters walked in to the bar. Thanks to this application I'm no longer searching for mister-right-now 'cause they come searching for me. This application has revolutionized my game, and I couldn't be more pleased (if you know what I'm sayin') about Where The Ladies At.
All joking aside, one commenter on TechCrunch points out that this app is more than a little creepy. Sure, it only uses public check-in data, but aggregators (such as Google!) should always be treated with caution. For now, the app just points us to large groups of women -- but what if a later version points to girls that are on their own in dark, dingy dives?
